The KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Agriculture Sign a Contract

                                  In the aim to improving Agriculture and water resources sector and raising the scientific qualification of lectures and students,  The KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources Signed a Contract.

Before signing the contract, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research with Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Abdul Sattar Majeed and some advisors and directors of both ministries were ready, they talked about Agriculture issue in Kurdistan Regional Government.  In doing this, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources announced that, “According to a data which shows that 153000 farmers have recorded their names in Ministry of Agricultural and Water Resources and compare to last two years more than %4 of people have been working in Agriculture sector.  In doing this, the ratio of population of Kurdistan Region who work in Agriculture sector has increased from %16 to %20.  He hoped that this agreement will be another step toward improving the agriculture sector in the region.

In reverse, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research expressed his happiness to the improvement which agriculture has reached.  He said that he thought that the majority of Kurdistan economic crisis could be solved through agriculture.  He kept saying that a country which its first job was agriculture, then, we have to do what our ancestors used to do in terms of agriculture but in academic way.  He also said that the agreement which we are singing is significant for both ministries in one side and improving agriculture sector in the other.  It also benefits the scientific researches and analysis.  So, because of that we are really happy to the contract which will have its positive reflect upon serving Kurdistan nation.

In another part of the meeting which was held on today, Tuesday, Jan 12th, 2016 at headquarter of ministry of agricultural and water resources.  The contract signed by both Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research with Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Abdul Sattar Majeed

After signing the contract Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research with Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Abdul Sattar Majeed in a press conference mentioned the significant of the contract to the press.

In the beginning of the press conference, The Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Abdul Sattar Majeed said, “With our pleasure, today, we singed this contract with the ministry of higher education and scientific research which is about how to take care about agriculture sector in Kurdistan Region in terms of food safety, water, and scientific research.” He also explained that according to the contract, the ministry of higher education and scientific research will use all laboratories, facilities and the lands of ministry of agriculture to increase the products in both quantity and quality.  So, we can take advantage of lectures and students qualification to improve agriculture sector.  He clarified that the contract will be continued for five years and a committee to fulfil the contents of the agreement will be made.

 

In reverse, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research showed his feeling about the contract and said, “This contract for the current situation of Kurdistan Region will have its importance, because agriculture and water resources are the sources of giving life of Kurdistan population.  He also showed his feeling about the improvement which agriculture sector has reached in last two years.  He mentioned that in past there were coordination between ministry of higher education and scientific research and ministry of agricultural and water resources, but this time in this agreement has been made based on corporation.

The minister of higher education and scientific research said, “We think that all sectors have to be harmonied by Kurdistan human resource regarding lectures, students.  They should be investors.  In doing this, we don’t want that our education system be the place of only giving certificate.  He hoped that this agreement will have a positive reflection upon people’s life and the agricultural sector will be developed.
