Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research stressed that they are supporting any process that to serve our society.
This statement by the minister came during welcoming a delegation from the College of Islamic Daawa in Darbandikhan on Tuesday May 5th, 2015, in his office in Erbil.
In the meeting, President of the College of Islamic Daawa in Darbandikhan Sheikh Hussein Pir Khdir, thanked Dr. Yusuf Goran for his warm reception and reiterated their support for the process of reorganizing the Islamic Education within the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as the KRG Ministry of Education aiming at eradicating fundamentalism in the Kurdistan.
Dr. Nuri Harzani, General Director of Quality Assurance Office in KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research attended the meeting.
“Our college is a branch of the College of Islamic Daawa in Lebanon. Our College has a branch of Islamic Tasawwuf Studies. The main purpose of opening this college in Darbandikhan is to continue the thinking and program of Islamic Tasawwuf which is deep-rooted in the Kurdistan. We also want to resist the fundamentalism which is being directed towards the Kurdistan region from different places,” Sheikh Hussein Pir Khdir said.
He also said: “We want our college to be reorganized within the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and to get the ministry’s permission in order the college to be a full academic college.”
He also clarified that if their step for opening the college is not in the service of religion, nation, country and the Kurdish society the ministry should not give them permission.
On his part, Dr. Yusuf Goran said: “As your work is authorized by the Shariaa low and is for serving the society and the history of Islamic Tasawwuf in Kurdistan, thus we would like to support you, but you should implement the guidelines of our ministry. Accordingly, in the first step we will examine the establishment of your college. After you present your proposal fully and take into consideration the laws and guidelines of Quality Assurance Office in KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, later we will make necessary decisions about your college.”
