The Ministry of Higher Education Releases the New Instructions of Accepting Student at the Private Institutions and Universities

In the aim at reformation and systematizing the education process at the private institutions and universities in Kurdistan Region and improving their qualities, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research released the instruction of number 11 for the year of 2016-2017 in 2016 which is specific to the private universities and institutions.  The major points of the instruction are GPA of acceptance competition and the seat numbers of departments of the university have been changed.

In this regard, Abbas Akram, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s spokesman said, “Our Ministry is doing its best to improve the quality of education and teaching at the private universities and institutions.   In doing this, after the preparation of the ministry’s committee considering the quality of education and teaching for the year 2016-2017, the instruction # 11 of 2016 which is specified to private universities and institutions was released by Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.”

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s spokesman also said that it is  pointed out in the major parts of the instruction that students whom GPA are above %55 can participate in the competition of applying.  At the same time, the required GPA for the private institutions will be %50 to participate in the competition.  Also, the numbers of dedicated seats for the private universities and institutions’ departments have been changed.

Abbas Akram also said that the aim of their ministry in appointing GPA of acceptance and changing the numbers of seat at the departments of private universities and institutions is the process of reformation and systemizing the education system at the private institutions and universities and improving the quality of education and teaching.

Regarding the tuition fees at the private universities and institutions, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s spokesman explained, “Backed by law, there has been made a special committee of the Ministry to discuss and study the tuition fees of education for the year of 2016-2017.”
