Academic of the month is a section to profiling the top regional researcher based on their achievements reported by current National University Ranking (NUR). The NUR of KRG-Iraq, was founded in 2015. NUR provides the definitive list of the KRG best universities. The data are trusted by the government and universities. They are a vital resource for public, academics and students as well helping them choose where to study.
The NUR-KRG:-
- Is a comparison tool between the KRG Universities.
- Is also to measure how the University vision meets the MHE vision at KRG.
- Can rank the most effective criteria among the universities in KRG.
The mechanism of NUR is based on evaluating the Universities in different aspects, assessing and ranking them. NUR is based on evaluation that sets a benchmark against which University performance in certain aspects, that based on the the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education (MHE-KRG), can be assessed. NUR depends on two different types of evaluation, namely; peer review evaluation and bibliometric evaluation. The following three majors are evaluated by NUR;
- University Evaluation
- Academic Evaluation
- Various levels of Research Evaluation
The above includes evaluation of teaching, research, international outlook, reputation, green area space, student accommodation space and more.
The goal is to determine if a university passes the assessment, meaning it has achieved at or surpassed a basic level of requirements that set by the MHE-vision.
