In the aim to aware of the university’s activities and know their problems and issues, Dr. Yusuf Goran the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited the Polytechnic University of Erbil.
Muhammed Sabir, the director of general education and planning, Dr. Dilshad Kakasour, the general director of projects were with the minister in the visit and were welcomed by Dr. Kawa Shirwani, the president of Polytechnic of Erbil and the university’s staff.
In the visit, Dr. Yusuf Goran took part in a part of the meeting of the university’s council, as well.
The meeting was held today 31st of Jan 2016. In the beginning, Dr. Kawa Shirwani in the name of the university warmly welcomed Dr. Yusuf Goran and his colleagues. Then, pointed to the agenda of the meeting such as: evening study at the university and the parallel system.
Then, Dr. Yusuf Goran showed his happiness to the visit and participating at the Polytechnic University of Erbil and said, “It has been a long time ago which I wanted to visit the university to aware of the university’s activities and listen to the suggestions and recommendations to improve the higher education in Kurdistan and hoped that the meeting will be a transparent meeting and identifying the problems and issues and find enough solutions.
In the speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research pointed to the financial crisis which has faced Kurdistan Region. This crisis has made it difficult to the universities and Kurdistan Region’s facilities. He also said that we should face the problem together to pass the crisis till the study process will be continued.
In the speech, Dr. Yusuf Goran also mentioned the significance role of the Polytechnic University to create a great generation of human resource. He also said, “This emphasizing of the polytechnic universities made them insist in the preserving the quality of universities.”
In the meeting also evening study and helping students out from the problems that have faced them were mentioned about. Evening study and parallel system of study in specific were brought to the point of discussion. In doing this, Dr. Yusuf Goran told the council members to collect the whole suggestions and recommendations form the universities’ presidents and send them to the MHESR to decide enough decision
