The legislation on Higher Education and Scientific Research in Kurdistan has made excellent progress in the past few days after two vital and successful meetings. The meetings where attended by the Presidents of all the universities and technical institutions in the Kurdistan Region, together they thoroughly reviewed the legislation and made some fundamental changes to the initial version.

The first draft of the legislation was published on MHE website. It has been available to wide range of audiences such as academic staff, students and relevant bodies of the Kurdistan’s parliament for the last two and half month. Furthermore, a vast majority attending the meeting approved the bill in its current form (12-3), and so a final draft of the law proposal has now been written. However opportunities remain for further small alterations to the proposal to be made before it is submitted to the Council of Ministers and then to the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region.
