Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said, “It is something good to increase the numbers of the not-to-profit universities.  In doing this, we will work on helping the universities whom are the not-to-profit.”

This announcement of Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research was during a meeting with Prof. Bruce Walker Ferguson, the AUIS President.

The meeting was on Sunday 14^th of August in the presence of Dr. Amanj Saeed, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s advisor, Dr. Khatab Shekhani, the Finance and Administration director, Dr. Jamal Kamal, the planning, education, and following projects  director-assist.  There were talking about the higher education’s strategy.

In this regard, Prof. Bruce Walker Ferguson, the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani President, showed his pleasure to the great hospitality and welcoming.  He had a brief about his university’s strategic planning to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.  He also wished to have enough support and coordination of his university with the Ministry of Higher Education –As it was in the past - for the sake of serving science, research, and education till the ranks of Kurdistan’s universities go up.

In reverse, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, after welcoming the delegate, congratulated Prof. Bruce Ferguson whom has been elected as the new president of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani.  The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research also mentioned the importance of opening the not-to-profit universities and said, “We will have special methods to have instruction for organizing the way of sponsoring the not-to-profit universities, because we want to increase the numbers of the not-to-profit universities vis-à-vis the private and public ones in Kurdistan.”
