Nomination call for the 4th edition of UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize 2015-2016

                                                     The KRG Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research announces that the fourth edition of the UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers has opened the call for nominations.

The prize is awarded every two years and it recognizes initiatives that contribute to improving educational practices around the world, with priority given to developing countries and to marginalized and disadvantaged communities.

The Prize of $300 000 will be divided between three winners.

Thus, the UNESCO calls on teachers, academics, and researchers apply to this award via their institutions. Accordingly, The KRG Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research calls on teachers, academics, and researchers, who are eligible, to fill their application forms (in both hard copy and software copy) and submit them to the presidency of their Universities or higher education institution. The deadline for submitting the forms is July 20, 2015. Then the forms will be officially raised to the KRG Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research. Finally, the application forms through the KRG Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research will be sent to the UNESCO for participation in the award.

The UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers was created in 2008 to support the improvement of teaching and learning quality in achieving the Education for All goals, which is one of UNESCO’s priorities.

The winners are selected by an International Jury composed of five distinguished professionals chosen for their high-level of knowledge and experience in teacher-related issues.

The Prize will be awarded for the 4th time at a ceremony that will take place during World Teachers’ Day celebrations at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 5 October 2016.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2015-2016 Prize is 31 October 2015.
