Dr. Yusuf Goran participates in Consolation Ceremony of Two students of University of Raparin

*Statement by Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research's Media Department
On February 9th, 2015, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research participated in the consolation ceremony of two students of the University of Raparin in Rania town, and met with the Council of The University of Raparin.  
Dr. Yusuf Goran, accompanied by President of the University of Raparin, councilors and general directors of the ministry, participated in the consolation ceremony of Ranj Dilshad and Karzan Muhamed, who were passed away due to car accident lately, and said his and the ministry's condolence to the families of both victims. 
On the other hand, Dr. Yusuf Goran met with the Council of The University of Raparin, and listened to the demands and needs of the university which were presented by the University of Raparin 's president, vice-president, and deans of the university's schools and faculties. 
"The University of Raparin is an important university of Kurdistan region which has had very useful for the people of the area, and graduated many students in three graduation rounds," the KRG Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said. 
He also reiterated:" We will work to further develop universities in areas which have decentralized administrations through opening new colleges and faculties as per the areas' needs. Also, in a step to urge students to follow their studies in their own areas, we will increase higher education seats of Masters and PhD degrees in these areas."
Dr. Yusuf Goran emphasized that they will make a review on the distribution of university staff in areas, which have decentralized administrations, in order to further develop scientific and academic standards of those universities, like universities in the Kurdistan region cities. 
Until now, University of Raparin has three graduation rounds and currently 3500 students are studying in the university, which consists of four faculties: Faculty of Basic Education, Faculty of Humanities Science, Faculty of Education, and the School of Nursing.
