Dr. Yousif Gorran: “The Higher Board of Scientific Research Has Been Established in Kurdistan in order to motivate Scientific Research”
“We established the Higher Board of Scientific Research in order to promote and develop the area of higher education in Kurdistan region” The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Regional Government said in an announcement. "The purpose of launching this board is to further motivate the scientific research in Kurdistan in a way to enable us to face issues and problems in a scientific manner." He added.
He declared this on Sunday, 15th of February 2015, during the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Dentistry College in Erbil Medical University which was held under the auspices of Dr. Yousif Gorran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Regional Government along with advisors, Director Generals, President of the University, and students.
After congratulating the faculty and lecturers of the Dentistry College in a speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research expressed his warm thanks towards their efforts in promoting the education process in Kurdistan.
Dr. Yousif Gorran indicated that the developing and promoting process of science will continue in Kurdistan region. “Although the followers of conservative and pessimistic doctrines have strived to ruin the development experience of Kurdistan from the past times till now, this development process will be protected by the courage and vigilance of Peshmarga Forces of Kurdistan, and we will also continue promoting the development of higher education." With regards to this matter, The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Kurdistan Regional Government announced that they have established the Higher Board of Scientific Research in order to promote and develop the area of higher education in Kurdistan region in order to enable the people to face issues and problems in a scientific manner. He further mentioned that they are currently on the phase of selecting board members which will start performing their responsibilities in the near future.
Moreover, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research declared that they have launched the process of composing guidelines to shed light on the importance of English language in colleges and institutes in order for it to become one of the primary requirements, especially for higher education, MSC, MA, and PHD studies. He acknowledged that the ministry will carry out the project of National Ranking of Kurdistan Region Universities in order to develop the scientific and academic level of the universities, and to improve their ranking level among other universities all over the world.
During the 20th anniversary of the foundation of Dentistry College in Erbil Medical University, each of the president of the university and the representative of the Ministry of Health provided their speeches and, finally, awards were given to those who eagerly served the college during its development process.
