On Monday the 6th of June 2011 was a day which the success of the 2nd Round of the HCDP scholarship program was celebrated. The event took place at the council of ministers’ office, all successful students were invited across the region as well as many distinguished guests of the region. In addition, Dr. Barham Salih, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Professor. Dlawer A. Ala`Aldeen, the Minister of Higher Education and Dr. Ali Sindi, the Minister of Planning attended.
In his speech at the ceremony, his Excellency the Minister of Higher Education praised the students and wished them all the best in their studying abroad. He also added that what we are seeing today is the application of what the government, represented by Dr. Barham Salih, has promised during the elections campaign. Now we can all see the positive impact of such pilot programs and the tangible effects and together we are here to celebrate the future academics of this scheme, he explained.
His Excellency also added, in the first round of HCDP the ministry has been so far able to send 700 students out of 960 admitted to the program, this is an achievement for us, the minister added.
Regarding the mechanism of round two of the program, his Excellency assured the use of up to date methods for selection and categorization of applicants, in addition to the use of online form which made the process and very user friendly.
Prime Minister celebrated how we have been able to overcome many obstacles to govern ourselves since the Baath party regime. We feel it is our core responsibility to serve the youth of the country and to pay more attention to detail specially in the field of higher education.
Dr. Ali Sindi the minister of planning also greeted the students and hoped them all the success in their academic life.
