We Wish to Take Advantage from the Successful System of Higher Education of Jordan

 Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research had a meeting with Haitham Abu Alfoul, the Jordanian Consulate in Kurdistan Region; the academic and scientific relationship between Kurdistan Region and Jordan were talked about.

In the meeting –on Wednesday 17th, Aug- Dr. Jwan Jalal Shareef, the general director of sending students to abroad and the cultural relationships was present.  At the beginning, the Jordanian Consulate showed his happiness and hailed the mutual relationship between Kurdistan Region and Jordan also emphasized on improving the academic relationship between both sides.  He also said that he was in Kurdistan to improve and serve the relationship between both of them. In another part of his speech, he talked about the political, management system, and the way of respecting the rights of the different sects.

In reverse, Dr. Yusuf Goran, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, after welcoming the Jordanian Consulate pointed to the relationship between Jordan and Kurdistan Region and said, “Our relationship with Jordan is a special relationship and its history traces to before 2003 in which the Kurdish political leaders built the base of the relationship.  He also said that they saw the Jordanian experience as significant, because though lack of mineral resources, they have been able to have a good example of success in the region. He brought the education system as an example in which has become a great source of income for the country and said that this could not be done if there were not a wise mind.  Also, regarding the rights of the small sects in the country, he said that the country has provided the total rights for them.

In the continuing of his speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research had a brief about the experience and history of higher education in Kurdistan Region to the Jordanian Consulate and said, “After the 1991, higher education aspect in Kurdistan has improved well.  Only one university has given a birth to other three ones.  In doing this, I am so glad to the relationship between Kurdistan Universities and Jordanian Universities. We wish to take advantage from their universities’ experience.  In this regard, I think we will keep this relationship continuing but making it more institutional to solve the problems which are heading to our ways.”

About the accreditation of Kurdistan Universities, especially the private ones by Iraqi government, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said, “The problems are not scientific or academic based issues, but political, because some of the private universities are better than the Iraqis’ universities in terms of quality and science; our try still continuing to solve the issues.”

 Dr. Yusuf Goran said, “We encourage the physicians to come to Kurdistan and live in Kurdistan and serve the medicine aspect.”
