A Review of One Day of Meetings in the Work of His Excellency

On 17-07-2011 His Excellency Prof. Dlawer A. Ala’Aldeen, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, welcomed two important guests to the MHE: Her Excellency Bronislava Tomášová, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baghdad, and Mr. Jiří Charvát, Head of the Commercial and Economic Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Baghdad. 
Both parties discussed some key issues of mutual interest, including how to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries. An outcome of this meeting was the decision to facilitate the admission of students who would like to pursue Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the great Charles University in Prague.


This reputable university has been added to the list of international centres of excellence that have been approved for postgraduate studies by Human Capacity Development Program (HCDP) scholarship recipients. Charles University is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe. It especially is renown for its Medical training programs and historic library.

Also, on the same day and at 12:30 p.m. his Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research welcomed the general consul of the United States in Erbil, Mr. Alex Lascars. Both sides discussed issues regarding higher education and the facilitation that can be made for Kurdish students to study in U.S universities.

At 13:00 Professor Dlawer A. Ala`Aldeen received the General Consul of the UK in Erbil, Mr. Chris Kinsley.  In this meeting his Excellency discussed various ways to strengthen relations with the UK. One of the topics discussed was the facilitation of visas for HCDP students and the different functional methods that can be achieved.
