
April 12, 2012 – H.E Dr. Ali Sindi, the KRG Minister of Planning, received a delegation of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in Iraq headed by Walter Doetsch, USAID representative in Erbil.
During the meeting, the primary health care project to be implemented by USAID in the Kurdistan Region through co-financing between the KRG and USAID. The project includes the provision of technical support and conducting training courses for health staffs in order to improve the performance of health departments, develop the staffs’ skills and raise the quality of services provided to the citizens of the Region, especially those related to reducing maternal infant mortality.
For his part, Minister of Planning confirmed the importance of such projects for the development of the services provided to citizens to cover all areas of Kurdistan. He also expressed the sincere gratitude of the government and people of the Kurdistan Region to the government and people of the United States, especially the USAID, for all the assistance and support they have given for the development of the Kurdistan Region, which has resulted in building a solid bridge between the two sides.
