
Erbil, 5/8/2012 – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) submitted to H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi, its draft evaluation report on infrastructure needs in the Kurdistan Region.
The draft, which is part of the UNDP’s Socio-Economic Infrastructure Needs Assessment (SEINA) to determine the Region’s infrastructure gaps, was presented by Rami Samain, UNDP-Iraq Area Coordinator, and Michel Del Buono, SEINA Team Coordinator. Both sides discussed the preliminary results and recommendations of the draft in preparation for the final report. The final report is expected to be complete in early October.
The SEINA Project began in May 2012, under the guidance of the Ministry of Planning. The project is led by an expert team of 11 UNDP-SEINA representatives who traveled to the Region in May and June for an intensive assessment mission. The main sectors examined by the SEINA report are agriculture, water, electricity, housing, environment, urban planning, transport, industry, education, health, and tourism.
