Tuesday, March 27, 2012 - Dr. Ali Sindi, Minister of Planning of the Kurdistan Regional Government, received  Dr. Marzio Babille, the new representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Iraq, and Ms. Joyce Gachiri, chief of UNICEF office in Erbil.

At the beginning, the Minister of Planning extended his warm congratulations to Dr. Babille on assuming his new responsibilities as UNICEF representative in Iraq, wishing him all success in his mission. Dr. Sindi further expressed the willingness of the KRG and his Ministry to provide all possible support and cooperation on a larger scale in order to render better services to the citizens of the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, the UNICEF representative expressed his happiness to visit the Region and confirmed that the situation in the Kurdistan Region is entirely appropriate for better policy improvements and project implementations. Then, the projects carried out by UNICEF in the Kurdistan Region in 2011 and the new ones for 2012 were discussed, which include  areas of child protection, health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation,
