On 04/05/2011, Dr. Ali Sindi, KRG Minister of Planning, met a joint delegation from UNESCO and Radar Technology International (RTI), to discuss the latest developments of the Hydrogeological Survey project and the usefulness of the applied technology to survey underground water.
This project is implemented by UNESCO in Iraq and Kurdistan Region to survey the underground water, identify the true size of water scarcity and make practical recommendations to the Iraqi and KRG governments.
The delegation highlighted the importance of this technology to the KRG as it helps in the identification of existing and additional groundwater and underground water. This in turn will affect the productivity of agricultural lands and areas for reforestation.
