Under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government His Excellency Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, a Social Protection Development Forum was launched , September 21, 2015, in Erbil Saad Center. His Excellency Dr. Ali Sindi, Minister of Planning (KRG), opened the Forum. The Development Forum, which was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed Qadir, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs (KRG), heralded the need for Social Protection Reform in KRG, through overhauling the existing social protection schemes that are not aptly targeted to meet the needs of the poor, and that are burdening the national budget due to outdated administrative capacity, policies and laws.
