16 April 2012, Erbil - H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi, KRG Minister of Planning, received Dr. Said Jaafar Hussein, Head of WHO’s Iraq Office, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the health situation in the Kurdistan Region and ways to improve it was discussed. This, of course will be achieved by providing better services to keep pace with those provided in the developed countries. They highlighted the primary health care project and the mechanism of activating it by opening special centers for primary health care, supplying them with advanced equipment and appliances, as well as developing the health staff capacity via training. 

For his part, Minister of Planning emphasized the importance and need to achieve this project, which will directly improve the health status of citizens, prevent outbreaks of diseases and epidemics, and reduce the rate of maternity and infant mortality.
