Wednesday, June 1st, 2011 – H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi, the KRG Minister of Planning, received Mr. Fadel El-Zubi, head of the United Nations Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Iraq and the accompanying delegation. During a meeting, they discussed the importance of strengthening relations between the Ministry of Planning and FAO in particular that the latter has recently moved to implement their projects through strategic plans which basically rely on three pillars: capacity building and introducing new technology, revising policies and strategies, and encouraging investment in the agricultural sector.
With regard to its projects, FAO focuses on the areas of food safety, fish and livestock farming by using the latest technology, as well as coping with drought.
