02/08/2011, Erbil – H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi, KRG Minister of Planning, received a UN delegation, ILO head of Iraq program, UNDP Baghdad Manager and LADP program advisor.
The delegation outlined the preparation for the second stage of Local Area Development Programme (LADP), for which more budget will be designated by the UN and the Iraqi government. The aim of the programme is to enhance local participation in the decision making process on the type and quality of projects implemented in their areas.
Dr. Sindi stated that this is an important project as it falls within the framework of the KRG’s policy of decentralization of decision making. He also mentioned the new approach to the KRG-UN cooperation, which will be further utilizing co-financing of projects.
It is worth mentioning that the LADP is a four-year multi-agency programme, focusing on the citizens’ participation in the decision making process.
