On 09/05/2011, His Excellency Dr. Ali Sindi, KRG Minister of Planning received EU delegation headed by Mr. Jobst VON KIRCHMANN, Head of Cooperation in the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Iraq. The delegation is visiting the Kurdistan Region, to consult the KRG officials on the future EU projects in the areas of health, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), higher legal education and civil society organizations.

The delegation briefed the Minister of Planning on the EU’s main projects in health, IDPs, higher legal education and civil society development. In the area of health the EU projects focuses on development of health and emergency response. For IDPs the EU, in Cooperation with the KRG and Iraqi Government, attempts to create an enabling environment for the IDPs and facilitation of their return. In higher legal education, the EU project attempts to advance the legal education through curricula development. And finally for civil society the EU focuses on bringing the NGOs and the government together to create an encouraging environment for the civil society to prosper and contribute to the society. 

H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi extended the Ministry’s gratitude to the delegation and reemphasized the MoP’s willingness to assist EU in implementing their projects.
