Erbil – H.E. Dr. Ali Sindi, KRG Minister of Planning, received a UNDP team
headed by Miss Simona Marinescu, Program Director of the UN's private sector
development program in Iraq.
The main topic of the
meeting was discussion on the Socio-economic Infrastructure Needs Assessment in
the Kurdistan Region, which is a project co-financed by the KRG's Ministry of
Planning and UNDP. The project aims to identify infrastructure gaps in sectors
such as health, education, electricity, water and sewerage, housing,
municipalities, communications, transportation, etc.
Ms Simona highlighted
the project's progress in data collection, interviews with stakeholders and
needs identification.
Dr. Sindi presented
his comments and views on the project and recommended to prioritize the tasks
in order to improve the infrastructure and economy of the Kurdistan Region.
