September 18, 2012 – In an effort of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to advance the agricultural sector and the water management of the mountainous areas of the Great Zab River, Dr. Ali Sindi, the KRG Minister of Planning, received a delegation of the French Agency for Development (AFD), headed by Charles André Le Pape, country director of the agency in Iraq.

In a meeting, the two sides discussed the progress of the project which is now under implementation, and talked about the mechanisms of how to hasten the completion of the work. This project is of great importance in improving water management and utilization of surface water, as well as the development of the agriculture sector by improving the quality of agricultural crops.

For his part, the Minister of Planning highlighted the importance of this project and all other projects that would develop the infrastructure of the Kurdistan Region in all areas. He further asked AFD to play a greater role in the development of the Region in various sectors.
